National Parfait Day
Layers of joy. Donkey was right, everybody loves them.
The parfait originated in France in the 1800s as a frozen dessert made from sugar syrup, cream, and eggs. The American parfait evolved into a layered dessert of ice cream, whipped cream, and toppings served in a tall glass. The breakfast yogurt parfait, with granola and fruit, is a later evolution.
