National Pickle Day on November 14 celebrates pickled cucumbers and the broader art of preservation through fermentation or acidification. Pickling is one of humanity's oldest food preservation methods, with references to cucumber pickling appearing in Mesopotamian texts from approximately 2030 BCE.
