National Hawaiian Pizza Day

The ham and pineapple pie that started a global topping war.

Hawaiian pizza has nothing to do with Hawaii and everything to do with Canada. It was created in 1962 by Sam Panopoulos, a Greek-born restaurateur in Chatham, Ontario, who tossed canned pineapple and ham onto a pie at his Satellite Restaurant. The name came straight off the pineapple can, and the sw
